Glenna Jean, a respected manufacturer of crib bedding, is available through online retailers and baby specialty stores. The Flashback bedding collection is a good choice for anyone looking for something new and original. Flashback is a high quality bedding collection with pricing ranging from $ 290 to $ 340 for the four-piece set. While certainly on the high end price wise compared to other national brands of crib bedding, the fabric quality and workmanship of Flashback bedding more than justifies the price for those who can afford it.

Flashback comes as a four-piece set which includes a quilt, bumper, crib skirt, and fitted sheet. There is also a five-piece option with your choice of a pillow or diaper stacker available. All pieces are also sold separately. Thecollection is made from a 60/40 cotton/poly blend and is machine washable. As with most bedding collections, accessories are available to enhance the nursery. Two common accessories are not available in the pattern, which are Flashbacks to hamper and wall border.

The Flashback collection is a genuine patchwork design, in which each patch or fabric is sewn together to create the pattern; as opposed to patchworks in which the "patches" are on the same fabric and the stitching makes it appear as though the patches are independent of each other. The quilt is comprised of several squares of each of the four fabrics used in most of the bedding accessories-two shades of textured velvet, mocha and tan, and two printed fabrics in circles and squares. The printed fabrics are tightly woven andappear to be thicker and higher quality than most fabrics I've seen.

While I generally avoid commenting on the designs themselves, I must confess to have developed a special affection for Flashback during the course of my product review. I believe that Glenna Jean has selected the perfect fabric designs to communicate a very playful atmosphere without using the heavily themed approach seen in most other bedding collections.

The quilt has a fleece backing along with black velvet cording around the edge. The bumper, while in one continuous piece, is 10 "high and features ties on both the top and bottom. An interesting feature of the bumper is the patchwork pattern appears on both sides of the bumper. In most cases, the inward facing part of the bumper features the patterns usedin the collection, while the outward facing area is a plaid or another striped fabric used as a background. The crib skirt features the tan textured velvet with a 15 "drop. The fitted sheet is made from soft brushed cotton.

Because Flashback merchandise is assembled in the United States, it can be particularly appealing for Canadian customers purchasing from a US retailer. It can be shipped to Canada duty free, thereby avoiding charges of 17% or more of the purchase price that apply to bedding manufactured in China or India.

Choosing Bedding for Cribs Part 2-Furnishing The Nursery

When it comes to furnishing nursery, the easiest bit has got to be getting pregnant in the first place! As a first time mum some 26 years ago, the choice was very limited in what you could buy or make. It was all very practical, but not really attractive. Co-ordination meant having more than two items that matched! In those days, in the UK, everything a new mum needed came from one shop-Mothercare, unless you had the income to allow the more select shopping at department stores. Comparing prices, styles and availability on the Internet was not an option because the Internet did not exist.

When a very close friend found she was pregnant recently, I took time to have a look at what was available. A fan of all things New England (the family will be emigrating from the UKwhen all the paperwork is agreed), I wanted to see if I could find something special for her.

Looking now at the websites offering bedding for cribs, my first problem was to understand some of the different terms. It wasn't until I saw some pictures that I realised that in the u.s. a ' crib ' is a ' cot '. In the UK a ' bassinet ' is not a baby bath but a moses basket ' and a ' cradle ' is a ' crib '. Confusing, isn't it? I've made a little table to try and make it clearer.

The American sites have so much more to offer than the UK ones. That's not to say that all the goodies available in the u.s. aren't available here because they are. However, the choice of design, colour etc. is very limitedin the UK. Enter ' bedding for cribs ' into the search engine and you will find several very good sites in the US offering literally hundreds of different designs, with a good variety of price and quality. No longer is it just a matter of finding matching crib bumpers and quilts, possibly with matching curtains and perhaps a wallpaper border, the whole nursery can be styled in both furniture and material to suit whatever your particular dream might be. I even found a black and white gingham (check) set that looked stunning in the accompanying photograph.

I found some lovely bedding for my friend's nursery, but in the end I didn't buy a quilt to match. In New England style, I had one made for her to go with the rest of the linen, with the baby's name on it too. Hopefully the completeset will be something that will remain in the family for many years to come.
